Our voice studio has moved to singaporesingingteacher.com. Ms Grace Ng is currently not taking in new piano students. New students may approach Mr Ng for classes. Our Teaching Philosophy In our teaching, we aim to create independent, thinking musicians who are able to put learning into practice for individual self-expression. In our Piano classes, the assigned pieces are not only pedagogical tools but become a portal for an exploration of music history, the arts, social changes, geography, politics and literature, for a holistic appreciation of music in context. We maintain a strong emphasis on Sight-reading. We believe that the ability to sight-read gives students independence in learning and paves the road for him or her to continue making music for life. Our singing classes relate the act of singing to the act of communication. Singing exercises are intention-based. Students do not make meaningless sounds but are encouraged to relate sounds to everyday intentions thereby becoming communicators of text rather than makers of pretty but meaningless sounds. Our teaching is complemented by regular Performance Practices and audience feedback to further help students improve their performing skills. We are committed to music as a life-affirming force and a vehicle for physical, mental and spiritual growth. |
